A few things you must do in order to lower your weapon in Halo Reach.

Step 1: From the main menu, go to "Custom Games"

Step 2: From the Custom Game menu, press "Y" and choose "My Xbox360 Console" from the network options.

Step 3: Start up your custom game.

Step 4: During the game, press and hold the following buttons for 2 second:

LB+A+B+X+DOWN+DPAD RIGHT+ RS and LS

*** REMEMBER ***

This button combination is for the standard controller setting. If you are using a different controller setting, you need to adjust the buttons you are holding.

This video is also a great demonstration:

Hi there, I have a few production questions that have been plauging me, I write a pretty mean script but I'm new to producing machinima. The children of my village will build statues to you for your advice. Let the ruthless interogation begin!

1)I'm using 3 xbox 360's to shoot with and I can't figure out how to get rid of the HUD. Black eye doesn't work in Forge, which begs the question, how did you do it? Is the process you use availible on the 360? (please don't say Halo pc, please don't say Letterboxing……)

2) What program do you use for your visual effects? I really like the washes you use!

3) Do you do your own Forge work?

I'm really hoping there's a code for the HUD, thanks for your time!

Hi Matthew!

1) There is a button that toggles the HUD on or off when you are filming in Theater mode (I think it's the B button, but double-check based on your control settings).

2) I use Sony Vegas for all my editing and visual effects.

3) Yep! I do it all myself (…so far….)

Thanks a lot for posting. Let me know if you have any other questions!

This is most likely the very wrong forum, but you don't have a thank you section for all the great Machinima making advice you post in forums and developer log so….

-Disclaimer of misfiling posts over-

So, thanks to your advice my project "Grunts" is churning right along, I have three scripts cast and written, and we are now doing vocal recording with the great freeware program that you use, (Audacity) and are fleshing out the characters, it's amazing how much easier it is to write material when you can envision the characters voice and how they'd act in certain situations. The hardest challenge is learning the new program, (if there's a link to a good audacity manual, I'd apreciate a link). Anyway, long story short, this project couldn't have EVER gotten off the ground without the information on your site, your love of the genre shows plain in both the quality of your Machinima and in the vast amount of information you posted on making it. Some artists horde their processes but you put it out there to help others, I just wanted you to know I appreciate it!

I was wondering what people thought about head-bobbing as a Halo machinima technique. It's obviously good for showing who's talking, but if you're trying to set a story within the Halo universe, the helmeted characters don't really talk like that, and something would be seriously wrong with them if they did, like they were having a spasm. Is head-bobbing the 100% matter-of-fact way to do things or is it better, if you're doing a partially-kind-of-serious machinima like I am, do use head-bobbing?

I'm torn on the subject myself. There are a limited amount of things that an actor CAN do in Halo, Shoot, Jump, Run, Walk, Reload, Pilot craft, Dismount Craft, Armor Ability, Carry Flag/Bomb annnnnd look around. In playtime (and NOOB squad I think?) the shots are clear enough that you know who's talking. I don't think you have too, but I use it as a tool to make things clearer.
